Excessive tissue around a male’s chest is often crudely referred to as “man boobs.” The medical condition gynecomastia, can be a serious, and involves actual female breast tissue in men. This is sometimes a side-effect of medication or a symptom of a serious illness. Pseudogynecomastia, as it is technically called, is fatty tissue around a male’s breasts, and occurs in up to 40% of all adolescent males during puberty. Most of the time, this fatty tissue will disappear on its own, but if not, it can be eliminated through proper diet and exercise.
